Benton Crossing
An easy, great ride heading north out of Bishop on first Fish Slough road and then through Chidago Canyon which is a must see in our opinion.
Harkless Flat
The view from Harkless Flat is amazing and the riding as good as it gets in our opinion. Note, we took a wrong turn and didn’t realize until the road got so steep we realized we must be on the wrong track. I didn’t edit that detour out since it was fun riding anyway. After the flat, we carried on further on the Death Valley road to a Joshua Tree forest which is certainly also worth a visit; this is part of the track.
Warm Springs, Death Valley
This ride goes back to Death Valley from Owens Valley following first the Death Valley road out of Big Pine and then the Saline Valley road to the springs. It’s a long, dusty road with significant washboards most of the way. The landscape is beautiful, of course, but the washboards become very tiring and tedious after a couple of hours… Maybe if you have a high end bike with very good suspension you can just float over them but for us it was just work… Note, the turn to the springs off Saline Valley road is not signed so keep an eye on your GPS.
